Climate Responsibility
The City of Rauma is part of the Carbon Neutral Municipalities Network and aims to become carbon neutral as a Finnish pioneer municipality already in 2030.
The City of Rauma awards the Hinku – Towards a Carbon Neutral Rauma – label and a certificate of honour to a company whose activities support the achievement of Rauma’s carbon neutrality goal. The logo can be awarded to a company by participating in a resource efficiency walk, carrying out resource calculations or making a climate commitment.
Why climate responsibility?
Commitment to climate targets is first and foremost a brand and image issue for companies: awareness and consideration of climate and environmental issues in business is increasingly important – even a prerequisite for a large company when choosing its suppliers and partners, or a prerequisite for obtaining funding for business development.
People’s environmental awareness has grown dramatically in recent years. Increasingly, consumers’ purchasing decisions are influenced by the environmental and social responsibilities of companies. Reducing emissions from business activities is often achieved by reducing energy use and consumption, which also means improving cost efficiency.
In addition to economic benefits, improved competitiveness and environmental considerations, the benefits of participating in Business Rauma’s climate responsibility services are flexibility and free of charge.
Business Rauma services for businesses
Business Rauma offers two types of services to companies operating in Rauma to help them set their climate goals and reduce their climate impact.
Climate Partnership
The Climate Partnership involves businesses and communities in climate action. The Climate Partnership is specifically targeted at micro and small and medium-sized enterprises.
A company or organisation that becomes a climate partner of the municipality draws up its own plan to reduce emissions. The Climate Commitment sets out the key climate objectives of the company or organisation and the municipality for reducing emissions and mitigating climate change.
A climate partnership often reduces a company’s air emissions by reducing energy use and consumption. Reducing emissions benefits not only the environment, but also the operator itself through cost savings from reduced energy and material costs.

Making a resource calculation
Resource efficiency refers to energy efficiency, material efficiency, waste recycling and logistics efficiency. Resource accounting is particularly useful for improving the efficiency of manufacturing and industrial companies.
Resource calculations for companies are provided by Senior & Sons Oy, led by Business Development Specialist Heikki Nurmi.
Climate targets and actions can include energy saving, energy efficiency, waste management or logistics.
