Swimming areas

A swimming beach in Kaljasjärvi.

Rauma has several public beaches and a swimming pool. EU beaches are those estimated to be visited by at least 100 swimmers per day during the bathing season.

Dogs can be bathed at the end of the turnpike.

The city has seven beach saunas with public access from June to August. The exception is Lapin rantasauna, which is open all year round.

The purpose of bathing water monitoring is to ensure that the water in public bathing areas, swimming pools and other pools is sufficiently clean to prevent illnesses caused by bathing water.

Monitoring the quality of bathing water is part of the control under the Health Protection Act. Samples are taken regularly from public bathing areas during the bathing season to monitor water quality. Public open-air bathing sites are sampled once a month during the winter season. In addition, regular inspections are carried out at the bathing and winter swimming sites to check on cleanliness, toilets, waste management, etc.

The quality of the pool water is monitored by the swimming pool itself and by regular sampling by the authorities. The health inspectorate also monitors the water quality of other public swimming pools. The results of the most recent bathing water sample must be available to users of the public beach, swimming pool or public swimming pool.
