County and Municipal Elections
The election day for the county and municipal elections is Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Schedule
- The voter information will be collected on February 21, 2025.
- Voting notifications will be sent to eligible voters by March 20 at the latest.
- Outdoor election advertising begins on March 26, 2025.
- The registration for home voting ends on April 1, 2025.
- Advance voting in Finland takes place from April 2 to April 8, 2025.
- Advance voting abroad takes place from April 2 to April 5, 2025.
- Election day is April 13, 2025.
- The election results will be confirmed on April 16, 2025.
Voting in advance
Instead of voting on election day, you may vote in advance at any of the general advance polling stations.
Voting on election day
On election day, you may only vote at the polling station stated in the voting register and in the polling card sent to you before the elections.
At-home voting
You must register for at-home voting with the central municipal election board of your municipality of residence.
Voting at institutions
Advance voting is also organised at institutions, such as hospitals and residential homes.
Identity Verification
A voter must be able to prove their identity upon request, for example, with a passport, driver’s license, or another official photo ID.
If necessary, a free temporary identity card issued by the police for voting purposes can also be used. It is advisable to obtain this card well in advance of voting.
Right to vote
The right to vote in regional and municipal elections is determined in the same way.
