Flag Days

The City of Rauma flags on official and established flag days.

In addition to these, the flag is also flown on Rauma’s own flag days, such as Rauma’s founding day and Hj. Nortamo’s birthday.

Rauma’s founding day, Rauma Day, is celebrated annually on 17 April. Rauma was founded in 1442.

The birthday of Frans Hjalmar Nortamo, a dialect writer, professor and doctor from Rauma, on 13 June, is an established flag-raising day in Rauma. Nortamo is known for his stories written in the Rauma language.

Rauma Lace Week is a well-known annual city festival in Rauma. Rauma Lace Week is celebrated in the penultimate week of July. Flags are also flown in honour of the event.
