Theme Illuminations
The tower of the Old Town Hall is illuminated in themed colours on festive and theme days.
Themed illuminations are decided by Communications Manager. Lighting permits are not granted for commercial use.
Upcoming Illumination Days
September
- Green – Mitochondrial diseases – Light Up for Mito (date to be specified)
- International Mitochondrial Disease Week is celebrated at the end of September. The awareness week will end with the Light Up For Mito event, when various sites around the world will be lit up in green.
- World Heart Day 29.9.
- World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29th of September.
October
- Pink Ribbon-day (date to be specified)
- Part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the pink ribbon supports research into breast cancer and other cancers.
- Green – International Mental Health Day 10.10.
- On 10th of October each year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) celebrates International Mental Health Day to raise awareness of the wide range of mental health problems and to support local campaigns to promote mental health through WHO-produced materials and technical assistance.
- Blue – Satakunta-day 11.10.
- Satakunta-day is on the 10th of october, which is Otso’s name day.
November
- Blue – Children’s rights day 20.11.
- International Children’s Rights Day is celebrated every year on 20th of November.
December
- Blue and white – Independence day 6.12.
- On Independence Day, the tower of the Old Town Hall is illuminated in the colours of the Finnish flag. In 2024, Finland will celebrate its 107th Independence Day.
- Red – Christmas 24.–26.12.
- At Christmas, the Town Hall tower is illuminated in red.
- Blue and white – New years eve 31.12.
- We bid farewell to 2024 with blue and white lighting.
