Street Use Permit
Notice to the Appropriate Authorities
If the event required the total or partial closure of a street, parking area or other public area and the resulting temporary traffic arrangements, the event organiser must apply for a permit from the City of Rauma Area Services. The event organiser shall submit a plan for the temporary traffic arrangements as an attachment to the application sent by email and shall arrange for traffic controllers and the necessary traffic signs at the event location and shall be responsible for the functionality and smooth running of the traffic arrangements.
The approved plan for temporary traffic arrangements will be submitted to the police as an attachment of the public event notice and to the rescue services as part of the event’s rescue and safety plan. The police will authorise the closure of the street and approve the traffic controllers. A list of traffic controllers for the event will be sent to the police as an attachment of the public event notice.
It is important to remember to inform all parties whose operations may be affected by the temporary traffic arrangements for the event.
The application should be submitted well in advance of the event, but during peak periods in the spring and summer you should be prepared for a longer processing time. Plans should be submitted for comment in advance, at least two weeks before the event.
Permission to Hold an Event on a State-Maintained Road
Any events on roads that are not part of normal traffic require a permit from the ELY Centre or the police. If the event does not require road closures, permission can be applied for by sending a written application to the Pirkanmaa ELY Centre, which also handles applications from the Satakunta region.
If the event requires the closure of the road to other traffic, the permit must be obtained from the local police station. The Regional ELY Centre will issue an opinion. The application must be submitted well in advance of the event, at least six months in advance for large events. During peak periods in the spring and summer, you should allow for longer processing times.
