Paddling routes and destinations

The fragmented archipelago off the coast of Rauma offers routes and destinations for paddling trips. The routes in the inner archipelago mainly run through sheltered bays and straits.

The tourist islands in the northern archipelago of Rauma can also be reached by kayak or conoe. The islands of Nurmes and Reksaari offer hiking trails, campfire sites and possibilities to stay overnight in a tent or a reservable hut.

On the website of the kayaking club Rauman Seudun Melojat, you can find information about kayaking destinations and routes in the maritime area off Rauma, as well as departure points on the mainland (in Finnish).

Diving sites

In the area of the Bothnian Sea National Park, you can find the underwater nature of Finland’s cleanest marine area. Rauma offers diving sites where you can explore the underwater world.

Diving club Rauman Laitesukeltajat maintains the Riskonpöllä Dive Park and organizes various camps and diving events in the Rauma archipelago.

At the Riskonpöllä Dive Park, there is the schooner Siivo, which sank at this location in 1898, a trawler sunk in the 1990s, a diving bell, and an underwater task course. There is a buoy for divers on the east side of Riskonpöllä. Between Pieni Riskonpöllä and Riskonpöllä, there is a relatively deep landing site. The Valkeakari shipping lane and boat route are close to the dive park.

A children’s dive park operates in mid-summer at Kuuskajaskari. Fun sculptures have been sunk near the shore at a depth of just over one meter for children to discover.
