Risk Assessment

Rauma Water, a public utility company, has assessed the risks associated with the production and distribution of household water. The latest update of the risk assessment was carried out in 2018. The risks have been assessed according to the Water Safety Plan (WSP) methodology. The WSP is based on a model recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The task force that developed the WSP went through Rauma Water’s water supply chain from the drainage basin to the water meter and assessed its functionality and vulnerability. The WSP tool was used to identify and describe the hazards in the water supply chain and to assess the associated risks: how likely the hazard is to occur and how serious the consequences of damage could be. This resulted in a risk rating for each risk:

L = low risk
M = medium risk
H = high risk

The risk assessment was approved on 27.10.2020 and Rauma Water reassesses the risk assessment annually.
