General and master plans
A general plan is a general land use plan for a municipality. Its purpose is to provide general guidance on the location of different community activities, such as housing, services, jobs and recreational areas, and to coordinate these activities. The master plan determines the principles of the desired development and guides the preparation of the land-use plans for the area.
A general plan may cover the whole municipality or a specific part of it, in which case it is called a master plan.
