In addition to the tasks specified in the Environmental Protection Act, Water Act, and Waste Act concerning the administration of environmental protection in municipalities, the unit acts as a permit and supervisory authority in accordance with the Land Extraction Act, as an environmental protection authority in accordance with the Off-Road Traffic Act and the Water Traffic Act, and as the municipal camping area authority referred to in the Outdoor Recreation Act. Environmental Protection Regulations

Information on various topics can be found in the environmental protection regulations of the City of Rauma, including the treatment of domestic wastewater, vehicle and boat washing, the obligation to make noise notifications, small-scale waste utilization, and the decommissioning of oil tanks.

The purpose of these regulations is to facilitate the practical application of environmental protection laws. While legislation provides general guidelines for environmental protection, often the decision-making regarding specific details is left to the municipal level.
