Inspection document

To ensure proper execution of construction and to verify inspections, an inspection document is maintained at the site.

The lead site manager is in charge of maintaining the inspection document. The people decided in the permit or the start-up meeting to be responsible for different work phases and inspections, verify the performed inspections in the document. The verification has to include the inspector’s signature, a printed name, and the date of verification.

Essential things to be included in the document:

  • verifying the preconditions for starting the construction work,
  • ensuring the requirements for each inspected work phase,
  • the inspections of key phases in the building’s safety, health and long-term durability,
  • identifying the risk factors in the production of load-bearing structures,
  • the execution of the construction work and the use of the building, and verifying the related inspections,
  • preventing the effects of moisture during construction and ensuring the building’s drainage,
  • verifying the compliance with construction plans and noting the approval of changes,
  • getting the necessary information for the operation and maintenance manual,
  • determining the suitability of the used products,
  • recording inspections and other reviews, and
  • verifying the preconditions for the final inspection
  • The document also includes justified remarks from the developer, designer, contractor or employed expert regarding deviations from regulations. The lead site manager has to notify the building supervision official about these as soon as possible.

Maintaining the document is noted in the final inspection document, and its summary is archived with the permit documents, and in the building supervision’s archive.
