Cutting down trees without a landscape permit

Trees can be cut down on the property without a permit if the all of the following requirements are fulfilled:

– In the zoning area of Old Rauma, if the architect overseeing the planning of the area supports it.
– At most, five trees are cut down, and there will be trees remaining on the property afterwards.
– There are no tree protection regulations in the zoning plan.
– The trees don’t grow in an area of the property that has to have trees according to the zoning plan.
– The trees are not significant to the landscape, like old individual trees, tree groups, tree alleys etc., losing which would have major effect on the environment.
– Cutting down trees that grow on the border of the property needs the approval of neighbors.
– Trees that cause immediate harm to the environment can be cut down without a permit.

A permit is needed if the previous conditions aren’t met. Thus you’ll need at least a statement from the building supervision about the action’s minimal impact. If the action is not deemed minor, it will require a landscape permit.

A condition on trees and their removal in the land lease agreements and the potential need for landscape work

The city council has (29.9.2014 § 105) given consent for tenants in the city’s residential, holiday, and business plots or building sites to cut down trees on the property and keep the wood as their own.

If necessary, the tenant shall, at their own expense, apply for a landscape permit from the building supervision for landscape-altering work in the zoning plan area (Land Use and Building Act § 128).

The tenant is responsible for the cutting down of trees and handling the waste at their own expense. Vihertoimi will only remove hazardous trees at their discretion, if required by the lease agreement.
