Geothermal energy and solar power
Geothermal energy
Drilling a geothermal well in a zoned or groundwater area requires a permit. In other areas, a notice is made unless the action is said to require a permit based on its impact on the environment, public interest or neighbors.
If the well is made alongside new construction, the permit is included in the building permit. However, if the decision on geothermal heating is made during construction, a separate permit will be needed.
It is advisable to involve a professional with enough experience and the qualifications to work on energy wells as early as possible in the project.

Solar power
Installing a solar collector or panel in a zoning plan area always requires at least an action notice. An action permit is required if the affected area is protected by the zoning plan, master plan or the law, or is an environment or building that is culturally, historically or architecturally valuable.
In shoreline areas the need for a permit is determined for each case individually. Extensive solar panel installations (over 50 m²) and power plants may require a building permit instead. There is no need for a permit if the site isn’t in the zoning plan area and is not protected by any regulations.
