Grants for Culture
Civil Services support youth, cultural and sports activities in Rauma by awarding operationla and targeted grants to communities. In addition, the Culture and Leisure Services also award grants to individuals.

The deadline for applications for the 2025 operating and target grants for culture is 31 October at 16:00.

Applications addressed to the Education Committee should be sent to Pyyrmani, Valtakatu 2, 26100 Rauma, tel. 02 834 5000. Late applications will not be accepted. The envelope should be marked ‘avustushakemus’ (grant application).
Only one grant may be awarded for the same purpose. Grants will not be awarded to the city’s own department. For both the operating grant and the target grant, the maximum amount of the grant may be up to 50 % of the costs incurred. The minimum grant amount is 400 euros.
Operating grant
Operating grants can be applied for by associations and communities engaged in cultural work whose residence is Rauma, whose activities are located in Rauma or whose activities are mainly aimed at Rauma residents.
When awarding an operating grant, the scale of the applicant’s activities will be considered: number of members, number of meetings, number of employees, number of public events and their number of participants, membership recruitment and training and any awards and other recognition, as well as opportunities for self-fundraising. Self-financing is a condition for receiving a grant.
Operating grants will not be awarded for the rent for facilities or the purchase of equipment, unless there are specific justifications for doing so. No grant will be awarded for office rent.
If an association or community is awarded an operating grant, it will not be awarded a target grant for an event which can be considered to be related to its yearly activities. Such events include yearly festivals, concerts and exhibitions.
Target grant
Associations, groups and individuals in Rauma who advance and carry out in cultural activities in Rauma can apply for a target grant for culture.
Target grants are awarded primarily to projects which
- Increase and diversify the cultural offering in Rauma
- Increase leisure opportunities and accessibility of culture for local residents in Rauma
- Increase cooperation between different cultural operators
- Take children and young people into account
- Contribute to the strategic objectives of the city
- Do not restrict participation on the basis of membership, invitation or similar criteria.
The target grant will not be awarded for
- Events related to the association’s or community’s yearly activities.
Activities which have as their main purpose fundraising and financial gain - Travel expenses or the cost of organising an event in another municipality
- Basic education, vocational training or thesis works.
If the purpose of the grant or the content, organisation or scale of the event changes significantly, the beneficiary must contact the grant provider without delay.
