Central Library

Loaning and returning automats

We recommend using the automats when loaning and returning. The library staff will always instruct in the use of the automats when needed.

Computers and internet

The downstairs reading room and the Knowledge and Skills section have computers with access to the internet, Microsoft Office software and the library’s e-resources. There are information search computers around the Central Library, which can be used to access the web library. The Central Library also has free wifi.

Copying, printing and scanning

There is a multifunction copier in the 1st floor newspaper and magazine room. Printing is available from the computers in the Knowledge and Skills section on the 1st floor and from the computers in the newspaper and magazine room. See the price list here.

You can also use the multifunction copier in the reading room to scan files into PDF format. There is also a scanner on the computers in the Knowledge and Skills section. Scanning is free of charge if it does not involve printing.

Digitization room

The equipment in the upstairs digitization room allows you to convert to digital format:

VHS and VHS-C tapes (only by burning to DVD)
photos
slides
135 type kino films
120 type roll films
110 mm negatives
LPs
cassette tapes

You can reserve a digitization room for up to four hours at a time. There are clear instructions on how to get started and staff are on hand to help if needed. The digitization of audio and video recordings is real-time, so please allow plenty of time. Use is free of charge, but you will need to bring your own DVDs, memory sticks and other supplies or buy them from the library. See the price list here.

Microfilm room

The microfilm room in the 2nd floor of the Central Library is a place to read microfilms and microcards. Read more on the Library Resources page.

Music

There is an electric piano upstairs in the Central Library, which can be played with headphones. There is also a CD player upstairs, which can be used to listen to music with headphones. A suitcase LP player is also available. The LP player can be used to digitize LPs as well.
