The Rauma Collection situated in the separate Rauma Room of the Central Library brings together material on Rauma and by authors from Rauma. The collection includes books, magazines, maps, recordings, histories, annual reports and small prints. The Rauma Collection is housed in the Rauma Room and its storage room, the microfilm reading room and the downstairs storage room of the Central Library. The material can not be loaned.

The library buys and accepts donations of fiction and music by Rauma authors and non-fiction on Rauma.

The collection aims to include comprehensively:
1) newspapers from Rauma and the newsletters of associations and companies in Rauma
2) official material produced by the City of Rauma’s central office, including press releases, staff bulletins, annual reports and other major financial and administrative reports, as well as tourism and other brochures
3) non-fiction books on Rauma and, at the discretion of the publisher, non-fiction books containing articles on Rauma
– including older material on the Lappi municipality (not to be confused with Lapland) and Kodisjoki
– in the case of a single article, the text should provide some additional information to the currently available material/information
– non-fiction books by Rauma authors not dealing with Rauma will only be taken into consideration in exceptional cases, at the discretion of the library staff
4) fiction written by authors from Rauma
– authors born, educated and/or profiled in Rauma are considered to be Rauma authors
– eligibility of the authors will be considered on a case-by-case basis
5) productions, music and theatre performances by bands and artists from Rauma
6) manuscripts and scores by authors and composers from Rauma
7) audiovisual material on Rauma, films of Rauma events, etc.
8) works in the Rauma language

The collection may include but does not actively collect:
1) posters, brochures and promotional publications from the city of Rauma, as well as material from the city’s administrative departments
2) collections of newspaper clippings and photographs, received and retained on a discretionary basis
3) websites and similar electronic material will not be stored
