Rauma will turn 583 years on 17 April 2025. Rauma Day will be celebrated with a variety of events for more than a week. The program will be published on this page in March 2025.


Rauma Day Market Celebration on Wed, April 16
In honor of Rauma Day, the market square in Old Rauma will come alive with music, a vibrant market atmosphere, and joyful festivities on Wednesday, April 16, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Local organizations will showcase their activities, and recognition will be given to individuals for their contributions to the city of Rauma. The detailed event schedule and performers will be announced on Monday, March 31.
Concerts
Sat, April 12 at 5:00 PM – Rauman Työväen Mieslaulajat 80th Anniversary Concert “Waves of Songs”
Rauman Työväen Mieslaulajat 80th Anniversary Concert “Waves of Songs”.
Tickets: 20 €, including intermission refreshments. Tickets available in advance from choir members and Kukka-Shop Rosa.
Concert duration: 2 hours.

Sun, April 13 at 3:00 PM – Rauma Marching Band Concert “Nostalgia of Success”
Rauma Marching Band, joined by former members of the Boys’ Marching Band, presents the concert “Nostalgia of Success.” The program features pieces that have brought competition success over the years.
The concert will be conducted by Chester Phillips (Atlanta, USA).
The event is free of charge. No intermission.

Sun, April 13 at 4:00 PM – Eliksiiri Choir Concert “That’s Life”
The concert program will be announced closer to the date. Free admission.

Sat, April 12 at 2:00 PM – Public Guided Tour of the Art Museum’s Collection Exhibition Pinnala’s Heart
The Pinnala’s Heart exhibition at Rauma Art Museum showcases treasures of Rauma’s art spanning over a century. From a collection of approximately 3,500 works, 60 pieces by 60 artists have been selected. The oldest artworks date back to the 19th century, while the newest was created and acquired just last year. The exhibition features paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints, drawings, and a single video artwork—offering numerous stories and imagery to spark the imagination.
The guided tour is included in the museum admission fee. More information on ticket prices can be found on the Rauma Museums website.

Wed, April 16, 12:00–5:00 PM – Bring Your Message to the People of the Future (Marela)
At Marela, there is an exhibition by artist Timo Metsäjoki, consisting of hundreds of postcards written by people, as well as video greetings. The exhibition asks, what kind of message would you like to leave for future generations? Metsäjoki has collected messages from both ordinary and well-known individuals during the summer of 2024. The messages are intended for the year 2054, 30 years from now.
The messages will be on display to the public at Marela until April 17, after which they will be sealed in a time capsule for 30 years. On Wednesday, April 16, the public will have the last opportunity to add their own messages to the capsule. The message can be, for example, a letter, drawing, photograph, or small object.
Admission to Marela is free in honor of Rauma Day on April 16, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Thu, April 17, 1:00–2:00 PM – Seniors’ Cultural Coffee at Marela
Themed guided tour on “Easter Traditions in Rauma.” The tour lasts about 30 minutes. Coffee will be served after the tour.
This event is aimed at older adults but is open to all interested.
At the Seniors’ Cultural Coffee, the guided tour and coffee are included in the museum admission fee. For more information on ticket prices, visit the Rauma Museums website.

For kids
April 12–21: Chicken Coop for stuffed chickens in the Discussion Park
The playhouse in Discussion Park will be decorated with fun stuffed toy chickens for Easter. For the second time, a group of plush toys will spend Easter there: chicks, two delightful hens, and a rooster. A couple of bunnies have also joined them. The cute chicken coop and its many details can be admired by peeking through the playhouse window.
There are also small chick pictures hidden around the park, which can be found using a map. The map is attached to the outside wall of the chicken coop. The Chicken Coop in Discussion Park will be on display from April 12 to 21, 2025. This event is part of the Lönnström Art Museum’s public engagement program.
Discussion Park is a community-based contemporary art piece by the artist duo Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, and it is the third contemporary art project of the Lönnström Art Museum.

Maritime Fun Music Classes for children at 10:00 and 11:00 AM at Poselli.
Celebrate Rauma Day joyfully by singing, rhythmically playing, and making music near the sea and shore, together with an adult.
The music classes are designed for children approximately 2–6 years old. However, siblings of all ages are also welcome to join.
The event is free of charge. The music class is organized by Muksumuskari.

Tue, April 15, 2:30–6:00 PM – Treasure Hunt for Youth in Old Rauma
The hugely popular Treasure Hunt, familiar from last year, is back! In the treasure hunt, participants search for various checkpoints at locations in Old Rauma.
The competition is played in pairs, and the winning pair will receive fantastic prizes.
More information will be available closer to the event. The event is organized by Rauma Youth Services.
The starting point is in front of the Savila Tourist Information, Savilankatu 8.
Thu, April 17, 9:00–11:30 AM – Children’s Event at Kipparinpuisto
Program stations organized by teacher students, with activities, sports, and fun vibes. The Traffic Park will be open for the first time this year. Welcome to enjoy!

Body Testing Day for Senior Citizens at Karin Kampus on Wed, April 16
Rauma’s Sports Services and LiikU ry are organizing a body testing day for seniors at Karin Kampus on Wednesday, April 16, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The tests will provide information about body composition, balance, and grip strength. The testing is free for participants, made possible by the national Ikiliikkujille lisää liikuntaa (More Exercise for Active Seniors) project. Rauma Day Awards
At the Rauma Day Market Celebration, awards will be presented in recognition of work done for the benefit of the city of Rauma.
The Meripojat Award is given in recognition of an individual or community who has distinguished themselves through exceptional work and actions benefiting others or society in general. The awarded deed or activity must be related to the city of Rauma. The award has been presented since 1982.
The Ruorimiehet Medal is awarded in recognition of an individual or community who has provided significant benefit to the city of Rauma through their outstanding work or actions.

The Organisations’ Market will gather Rauma-based associations at the market square on April 16, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
At the Rauma Day Market Celebration, you will have the opportunity to learn about the activities of local associations. A list of participating organizations will be published on this page before the event day.


Kiikartorni Lookout Tower will open to the public on April 16
In honor of Rauma Day, the Kiikartorni located at Syväraumanlahti will open its doors to the public on April 16 at 9:00 AM. The Kiikartorni will be open every day until the end of September. Free admission!
