The Role of the School Social Worker

Students are referred to the school social worker either independently, through a guardian’s contact, school and educational institution staff, child protective social workers and other partners.

The school social workers discuss, advise and guide children, adolescents and families in their life situations.

The school social workers are present in all pre-schools, comprehensive schools and general upper secondary schools in the city of Rauma. They work as part of the multidisciplinary student welfare services in schools and educational institutions and act as a link to the social services when necessary. The school social work service is part of the Satakunta Wellbeing Service County.

Pupils and students can come to see a school social worker during the school day or contact them by phone or Wilma. Guardians, school and educational institution staff and other partners can contact the school social worker.
