Multiculturalism in Early Childhood Education in Rauma

In early childhood education, multiculturalism is a valuable asset, bringing with it a wide range of perspectives, skills and experiences. A multicultural community enriches and strengthens the growth of all children.

Multiculturalism in early childhood education and care takes many forms. We take a culturally sensitive approach to understanding and valuing each child’s background and culture. This is reflected in everyday encounters, celebrations and curriculum content. Activities and events are organised in early childhood education to explore different cultures through music, dance, stories, food, etc.

We aim to work in an open and interactive way with all families. We welcome your ideas and feedback so that we can best support each child’s development.

Finnish as a Second Language (S2)

S2 teaching is aimed at children whose home language is not Finnish. The aim is to support Finnish language learning and ensure that each child receives the support they need in their language development.

Each child progresses in language learning at their own pace, following their own individual learning path. Based on the child’s starting level, teaching is planned to meet their needs and progress. We use a lot of play, singing, chatter and everyday situations to support language learning. In this way, children learn Finnish naturally and meaningfully as part of their day in early childhood education.
