Applying for Early Childhood Education
The Autumn 2024 Period of Early Childhood Education Starts on 5.8.2024
Decisions on early childhood education places for autumn 2024 will be made in May and families will receive their decisions by early June at the latest. The new term will start on 5 August 2024 , from when the new early childhood education places will be allocated. Only on duty daycare centers will be open from 1 to 2 August.
The application will be made primarily via the eService application for Early Childhood Education and Care. If your child already has an ECEC place, you do not need to reapply.
If it is not possible to log in to the eService system, you can also apply for a place using an electronic form that does not require authentication. The form can either be sent electronically or printed, filled in by hand and posted to the address on the form. Paper forms can also be collected and returned to the City Service Point (Pyyrman, address Valtakatu 2A).
You can apply for an early childhood education place at a specific daycare center. The request for a specific family daycare provider is written in the additional information on the application form. In the application, you also select the preferred early childhood education hours (h/month) and the part-time or full-time early childhood education and care option.
Decisions on places will be sent to families electronically via teh eService by the beginning of June at the latest. In the absence of an email address, the decision will be sent home by letter.
Applications for private early childhood education places are made directly to the private provider. A service voucher is available for private daycare, which can be applied for as soon as a place in a private daycare center has been secured.
If the child also has an application for municipal early childhood education, the application is cancelled when the family accepts a place in a private daycare center.
Any enquiries regarding early childhood education and care places can be made by email to varhaiskasvatus@rauma.fi or by telephone on 040 1729 455.
Applying for Early Childhood Education
Rauma has daycare places in both municipal and private daycare centers. You can apply for early childhood education places all year round.

Similarly, private family daycare is an alternative to municipal family daycare.

- Apply at the latest 4 months before your child needs a daycare placement.

The decision will be sent electronically to the eService.
You will receive an email notification when the decision is available.
You will receive a decision on the placement at least two weeks before the start date.

Place of Care Guarantee
If a family wants to discontinue a child’s early childhood education for reasons such as child care leave, job alternation leave or other reasons, the child can return to their previous place of early childhood education under the place of care guarantee. As a general rule, the guarantee applies to childcare in a daycare center.
