The floods that hit the Rauma urban area also caused problems around the water treatment plant on Tuesday 26.11. As a result of the flooding, certain treatment phases are temporarily out of service. As a result, the taste of drinking water may change from Wednesday 27 November, but the water will still be safe and meet health standards.

Flood protection work at the waterworks was started by the rescue service and the volunteer fire brigade on Tuesday. The water was pumped out of the yard and an earth embankment was built to prevent the lake water from entering the facility.

– The situation at the plant is under control. The rescue service has completed its task and Rauma Water is currently continuing to normalise the situation. There is still a lot of runoff in the terrain and networks, which continues to occupy our staff,” says Jukka Vastamäki.

Äyhönjärventie has been opened to traffic. The road was closed on Tuesday evening at the waterworks to allow the rescue services to pump water out of the treatmen plant’s property.
