Tech Summer Trainee Program brings technical talent to Rauma

The application for the popular Tech Summer Trainee Program starts on 15 January. The campaign is looking for engineering university students to work in companies in Rauma for the summer. Participants will receive a housing and bus pass.
Now in its ninth year, the Summer Technician Campaign is back on. There are numerous companies in Rauma looking for workers for the coming summer. Students of architecture and graduate engineering programs can apply for the Tech Summer Trainee Program. The application period is open from 15 January to 9 March 2025. Students who are accepted will receive a rented apartment and a bus pass or bicycle for three months on the Rauma Gyyt public transport system.
– The City of Rauma wants to support the skills needs of the region’s technology industry, construction companies and architectural firms. It is also hoped that the good experiences will encourage young people to stay in Rauma permanently. The campaigns in previous years have resulted in long-term employment,” business expert.Heikki M. Nurmi says.
Good experiences of the campaign from both employers and employees
Kongsberg Maritime Finland Oy recruits around 50 summer interns every year, most of whom come to work in Rauma. The company has been involved in the Tech Summer Trainee Program for a long time.
– Our biggest target group is students in the technical field, and the Rauma Summer Internship Campaign offers students a great opportunity to get to know the companies in the area. We have been involved for many years and the experience has been very positive on both sides. Many of the students who have come to us have stayed on, working part-time after their traineeship, doing their final year project and eventually moving into permanent roles in an international high-tech company,” says Kongsberg’s HR Country Manager Kristiina Ekholm.
