Enrolment for the 1st grade of primary school is open from 3.-16.02.2025 for the City of Rauma’s primary schools, Rauma Normal School and Rauma Freinet School.This year, children born in 2018 or earlier who have not yet started school will be enrolled for the 1st grade. Enrolment is done electronically through Wilma.
An estimated 300 children will start school in the autumn. A letter of enrolment has been sent to the children’s guardians on 20 January 2025.
After enrolment, the City of Rauma will assign the pupil to a local school. In most cases, the nearest school is the one closest to the pupil’s home. When registering for a school, the secondary school option should always be mentioned, as in some cases the child may need to be directed to a school other than the first choice. The school assigned to the child may, for example due to the large size of the age group, be different from either of the two options chosen. If necessary, the child’s official address as recorded in the population register will be used as a criterion for placement.
The decision on the future school will be mailed by the end of March. At the same time, information on how to apply for school transport will be provided.
Guardians of children are also asked to follow the information published on Wilma. The notices will be used to disseminate general information to a large number of pupils, such as the dates of the new pupils’ orientation days in May.
