Repair work on the tiling of the swimming hall at Karin kampus starts in August

The tiling of the swimming pools at the Karin kampus is being replaced due to problems with the tiles’ adhesion. The repair work will start in August and continue until October.
The aim is to be able to fill the pools and carry out the necessary tests starting in November and to open the new swimming pool to the public in January 2025.
“The City of Rauma and Tiilikaari Oy have agreed on the renovation work in smooth cooperation. Our next step is to work with the contractor, material suppliers and designers to find the best and most efficient way to carry out the necessary repairs,” says Olli-Pekka Kumpula, Director of Facility Services.
The entire tiling of the swimming pool hall will not be replaced, but the repairs will focus on tiles that can be found to be loose from the foundation by knock tests. Negotiations have been ongoing between material suppliers, designers and the tiling contractor on how to carry out the repairs, and what procedures to follow, since spring 2024.
