Rauma’s early childhood education prepares to introduce Päikky system – mobile app facilitates communication between guardians and day-care centres
News
The City of Rauma Early Childhood Education will introduce Päikky, a customer and activity management system, at the beginning of November. Carers are encouraged to download the Päikky Huoltaja mobile app, which will allow them to register their children’s childcare hours from Monday 4 November at the latest. Päikky can also be accessed via a web browser at paikky.fi. The new system will be linked to the Suomi.fi service.
– Our current systems no longer meet all our needs, and we want to focus on a smooth service. Guardians will log in to the Päikky Huoltaja application the first time they use it using the Suomi.fi login. During the login phase, you can choose Finnish, English or Swedish as the language of the application, says Virpi Kaukkila, Service Manager of Early Childhood Education.
The Suomi.fi message service should be taken to use, as decisions on payment and care locations, for example, are sent electronically. The new electronic forms will be available from Thursday 31 October.
Electronic communication via Suomi.fi messages and the app will speed up the flow of information and communication between carers and day-care centres.
– The mobile app is an excellent tool that is almost always with you. It allows you to send a message directly to the day care centre, for example, about sudden changes in the timetable. The Suomi.fi messaging service makes it easy to view incoming decisions and deal with official business. Wilma will remain in use alongside the new service channels, says Kaukkila.
The introduction of Päikky will affect current and future customers of Rauma’s early childhood education and care services. Päikky will be opened for open early childhood education customers in early 2025.
More information on the new system and its use will be available in late October on the city’s website at rauma.fi/en/early-childhood-education. Carers will be reminded of the change in the end of October.
