Blue Water Meter.

Rauma Water will start installing remote water meters during October. Over the next five years, all Rauma Water customers will have their water meters replaced with remote readable models. Approximately 10 000 meters will be replaced. There is no cost to the customer to replace the water meter.

Residents of properties will be informed in advance by text message of the time when their property’s water meter will be replaced.

– To ensure that the replacement work goes smoothly, residents are asked to arrange access for Rauma Water’s fitters to carry out the replacement work on their property’s water meter at the specified time, says maintenance manager Samuli Loutti.

Once a property’s water meter has been replaced with a remote reading, Rauma Water will receive a consumption reading from the meter every month and the property’s billing will be based on this actual reading.

The change in billing may have a short transition period, when the current estimated billing is changed to remote billing. The transition period will depend on when the water meter is changed during the billing period.

As the remote meters are battery operated and the communication network is wireless and fast but low-power LoRaWAN-network, there is no requirement for properties to have an electricity or communication network for remote meter reading.
