Together in a multicultural South-Satakunta project has been launched in the southern Satakunta region. The main objective of the project is to clarify and strengthen the cooperation between those promoting integration in the region. The target group is immigrants from outside the European Union. The project will run until 31 August 2026.

The project is managed by the City of Rauma and operates in the regions of Rauma, Huittinen, Eura, Eurajoki and Säkylä. The EU is funding the bulk of the project.

– The aim is to ensure that third sector services promoting integration in the area are easily accessible to the immigrant population and support the integration services of the municipality. The task is also to develop a model of multilingual social orientation in the area, which will become a statutory service from January 2025,” says project worker Hanna Muli.

The project will also strengthen knowledge and skills for the integration of immigrant populations. A multicultural living room will be designed and implemented as a meeting place for the immigrant and native populations.

– In addition, integration activities will be organised in cooperation with organisations, and a network of associations will be set up with the aim of getting as many immigrants as possible actively involved in local organisations and clubs,” Muli continues.

Project workers will be present at the Satakunta International People’s Fair in Rauma on 10 October, from 15-18 at the Poselli Culture House, Nortamonkatu 12.
