Aino Koivukari started as the new World Heritage Coordinator for the City of Rauma at the end of August.

Originally from Rauma, Aino is an archaeologist by training. She has previously worked at the Seurasaari Outdoor Museum, Vaasa City Museums, in the cultural sector in Sweden and Italy, as a tourism coordinator and excavation manager on archaeological excavations.

As World Heritage Coordinator, Aino is responsible for the development and maintenance of Rauma’s World Heritage sites in cooperation with the city organisation, local actors and national networks.

In my role, I am responsible for the preparation and maintenance of management and use plans for Old Rauma and Sammallahdenmäki, for example, and I promote and coordinate various projects related to the sites. I also take care of the flow of information on World Heritage issues between different parties,” says Aino.

Aino works in the heart of a World Heritage Site, as her office is located in the Old Rauma Renovation Centre in Tammela on Eteläpitkäkatu.
