Enrolment for pre-primary education begins on January 27

The enrolment period for pre-primary education in Rauma is from January 27 to February 9. Enrolment applies to children born in 2019. Approximately 300 children in Rauma are expected to start pre-primary education in the fall of 2025.
Enrolment is completed using an updated online form, which also allows families to apply for early childhood education to complement pre-primary education. The form and additional information about pre-primary education education can be found at rauma.fi/pre-primary-education.
– We assign a preschool location that is typically the facility closest to the child’s home. However, guardians have the option to indicate their preferred preschool location on the form. These preferences are considered only for applications submitted during the enrolment period and in accordance with the criteria for pre-primary education placement, explains Henriksson.
Once the preschool enrolment form has been submitted, it can no longer be edited. If changes are needed after submission, guardians should contact early childhood education services by email at varhaiskasvatus@rauma.fi or by phone at +358 40 172 9455.
– Letters are no longer sent to the homes of preschool-aged children. Instead, we primarily communicate with guardians through the Päikky application, except for families not yet part of Rauma’s early childhood education. Decisions about preschool placements will be sent electronically via the Suomi.fi Messages service by the end of April, Henriksson adds.
The private Rauma Freinet School also offers preschool education, and enrolment for it is handled by contacting the school directly.
– Guardians of current preschool children will continue to use the Wilma system until May. Guardians of new preschoolers will use the Päikky system. Previously created Päikky guardian accounts will also remain valid for pre-primary education, Henriksson concludes.
