Construction of ice park and maintenance building in Rauma’s Central Park about to begin

Construction work on an artificial ice rink and maintenance building for the ice park in Rauma’s city centre will start during week 29.
The ice park project is part of a wider development plan for Central Park, which aims to make the park available all year round. The project is implemented by the Lukko Foundation and the City of Rauma. In addition, the project has been awarded a state grant of 293 100 euros for the construction of sports facilities.
The first section of the ice park will be completed by Christmas this year. The construction of the other features, such as the play areas, will be decided on during the budget discussions.
The 2024 construction contract includes:
- construction of the artificial ice rink
- construction of the park area around the artificial ice rink
- construction of the water supply system
- construction of lighting and sound systems
- construction of a service road for the artificial ice rink
- construction of the maintenance building for the artificial ice rink, including foundations and electrical and plumbing installations
- purchase and installation of refrigeration machinery
- purchase and installation of building automation equipment
- purchase of an ice machine for the maintenance building for the treatment of the artificial ice and construction of the technical room for the refrigeration equipment for the artificial ice
The construction area will be fenced off during the construction work. The playground and the cafeteria with its terraces are located outside the work site and will be available for use during the construction period.
Partial traffic arrangements in the area of Satamakatu and Hallikatu
The pedestrian and bicycle lane on the southern end of Satamakatu between Seminaarinkatu and Valtakatu will be closed during the construction of the maintenance building of the ice park. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be redirected along the northern end of Satamakatu.
On Hallikatu, a few parking spaces will be reserved for the construction site, for instance during the water supply works.
Oteran Oy will be the contractor for the ice park and RMK Rent Oy for the maintenance building.
